In September 2017, The Open Group began working with Acclaim, (a division of Pearson VUE, an exam delivery company), to introduce the concept of “Open Badges” to The Open Group IT4IT™ and Open Certified Architect certification programs. Since then, we have been busy – we have now rolled out this program across our entire certification portfolio and as a result have invited everyone with a current certification with The Open Group to participate. This has resulted in over 20,000 badges being issued, with no surprises that the TOGAF®, a standard of The Open Group, badges are the most popular.
In beautiful, sunny San Diego, California, The Open Group hosted its latest event January 29 – February 1 at the iconic US Grant Hotel in the lively Gaslamp District. The theme was ‘The Role of Reference Architectures’. We welcomed over 200 attendees from 17 countries – a great first event of the year!
The rapid pace of technology innovation in today’s digital economy means that businesses require a level of agility and responsiveness that cannot be delivered by conventional business strategies and operating models.
This event focused on how Enterprise Architecture and the use of standards from The Open Group, such as TOGAF®, ArchiMate® and IT4IT™ (for managing the business of IT), are empowering companies to build better systems by architecting for digital business strategies.
Topics included: EA and Business Transformation; EA in Government; EA in Healthcare; Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities; Risk Management and Cybersecurity; Process Automation; and IT Management.
The Open Group, the vendor-neutral IT consortium, is hosting its upcoming event in Amsterdam, October 23-26, 2017. The Open Group Amsterdam 2017 will focus on Architecting the Digital Enterprise, bringing together vendors and end-user organizations to discuss how to architect the new digital enterprise.
The event’s focus will be on how Enterprise Architecture and standards such as the TOGAF® framework, ArchiMate® modeling language, and IT4IT™ reference architecture (for managing the business of IT) are empowering companies to build better systems by architecting for digital business strategies.
There are a lot of divergent thoughts about specific elements of TOGAF®, an Open Group standard. In conversations, the same thing is mentioned … the Enterprise Continuum. Each version of the TOGAF standard was/is intended to add to the value of the framework based upon best practices used by active Enterprise Architects. These best practices would be selected for use in a given architecture endeavor as appropriate. The TOGAF framework was never intended to be a recipe or step by step prescription.
ArchiMate® Version 3.0: Technical Corrigendum No. 1 (TC1) has been published. This is a set of corrections to the ArchiMate 3.0 Specification. It is available as a free download from The Open Group website, and an updated version of the full specification including TC1 has been published, known as the ArchiMate 3.0.1 Specification. The second ArchiMate Day will be held at The Open Group Amsterdam event on Wednesday, October 25th.
