MOSA is Here to Stay: A Recap of the 2021 FACE™ and SOSA™ Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) Event

By Chip Downing, Senior Market Development Director, Aerospace & Defense, Real-Time Innovations, Inc.

I continue to be amazed by the promotion and advancement of The Open Group FACE™ and SOSA™ Technical Standards and Business Approach within the U.S. armed services. Nowhere was this more evident than at the recent FACE and SOSA Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) 2021, which was hosted by the U.S. Army, sponsored by TES-SAVi, and supported by over 45 exhibitors. This event proved decisively that the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) is here to stay.

AUSA Exposition and The Open Group SOSA™ Consortium – Highlights

Staff from The Open Group attended the AUSA (Association of the United States Army) Exposition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, October 14-15, 2019.  It was a very impressive exposition with approximately 30,000 attendees from 80 countries. The 700+ exhibits were incredible from Black Hawk Helicopters to huge army tanks and all kinds of sensors.

The First Ever Joint FACE™ and SOSA™ Expo and Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM)

I am very much looking forward to the first ever joint FACE™ and SOSA™ Expo and Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) event on September 17, 2019. Hosted by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) and sponsored by Green Hills Software, this event will include demonstrations of the functionality and interoperability of both the Future Airborne Capability Environment™ (FACE) and the Sensor Open System Architecture™ (SOSA) Consortia Members. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the progress that the Members of The Open Group FACE and SOSA Consortia have made for creating new war-fighting capabilities for the services. Over 50 exhibitors will be at this event.
