Please can you tell us about your journey in becoming an Elected Member and serving Elected Member of The OSDU™ Forum OMC Committee I have been part of the OSDU forum since May 2020, and I have served as the AWS focal point and in several subcommittees. I started with the OMC in March of this year, and I am looking forward to diving into the opportunities we have over the next months….
How important is collaboration to you? I would say very important. In the OSDU Forum ecosystem, we are working to stimulate the “flywheel” to make the OSDU Data Platform successful. We want to delight our operator customers and grow the workflows of the software vendors—this will ultimately help expand the cloud platform provider success. Collaboration is vital to this success.
What does the word ‘Community’ mean to you? The OSDU Community is the heartbeat of the Forum. Members and volunteers are the glue that holds us together, and the spark that ignites our builders to create the energy industry’s data platform.
Are there any particular stories you would like to share that have shaped you professionally into the person you are today? Since childhood, I have been fascinated by science, math, and technology. This curiosity inspired me to pursue a degree in chemical engineering and to use my talents to make a positive impact on the world. I believe that with hard work and determination, anyone can achieve their dreams and make a difference.
Is there anyone that has inspired you, on your career journey, so far? Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Andy Jassy are inspiring pioneers, builders, and creators in new business models. Peter Diamandis is a visionary in science and technology, who has inspired generations of innovators to think boldly and push boundaries. Their career journeys demonstrate the limitless potential of human imagination, determination, and progress in technology.
Thoughts about The Open Group OSDU Forum: The very foundation of OSDU was built on innovation and disruption, bringing together huge groups of people and companies on a single, standards-based platform that paved the way for a new era of progress and efficiency. This ground-breaking platform was, in some ways, ahead of its time—revolutionizing the way the energy industry operated and setting a new standard for collaboration and performance. The OSDU represents a bold step forward into the future of energy and technology.
If you could develop a new type of technology, what would it be, and why? I’d like to leverage technology to disrupt the industry as we know it! Conventional energy sources just don’t cut it anymore…and it’s time for a bold new approach that shakes things up and unlocks the power of the future. The future of energy is up for grabs, and it’s an exciting, electrifying journey.
What is a business philosophy or principle that you follow? In AWS, I would say always doing right by the customer. I like to think big, but I also like to deliver results and do what we pledge to do. Amazon’s Leadership Principle on “customer obsession,” which emphasizes the importance of putting the needs and satisfaction of the customer at the forefront of all business decisions and actions. This doesn’t always mean doing 100% of what the customer says, but also at times looking around corners to anticipate their needs or invent on their behalf.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in your field? I would always say learn and be curious. Today, you can learn a lot about emerging technology online. Specifically, there a lot of cloud trainings and “training games” available to anyone who is curious in getting into the field (i.e Free AWS CloudQuest game: https://aws.amazon.com/training/digital/aws-cloud-quest/).
