The Open Group Brazil Members.br Online Events
The Open Group Brazil will periodically hold virtual events together with its Brazilian Members to address issues and updates that concern the Brazilian market, as well as tutorials focused on this audience, always having a global strategy, but always with a local tactic and execution.
The virtual event purpose:
There is a mistaken idea – and, unfortunately, very popular – that Corporate Enterprise Architecture is a discipline that should only be adopted in moments of relative tranquility and, on top of that, only by large companies. This would be the consequence of Enterprise Architecture (EA) being a heavy, difficult and time-consuming practice to implement and even more difficult to justify in terms of return on investment (ROI).
On the other hand, large management consultancies have been recommending the adoption of Enterprise Architecture as a fundamental strategic practice by companies for more than a decade. It is necessary for companies to understand that the above claims are unfounded. Enterprise Architecture can (and should) be adopted by companies of all sizes and segments, can be lean and agile and, if well implemented, presents a quick and significant return on investment. The existence of an Enterprise Architecture practice is particularly useful in times of crisis, when important business decisions must be made. In the absence of Enterprise Architecture, business decisions are made without sufficient information, without impact and risk analysis, compromising the quality of these decisions.
In this online event, we heard from the main leaders in Enterprise Architecture in Brazil how to implement an architecture practice in a simple and fast way, whatever the size or segment of your organization, in order to build a secure base for strategic decision-making business when important business decisions must be made.
The event agenda is below:
09:15 – 09:30 – Roberto Severo – The Open Group
Opening
09:30 – 10:00 – Átila Belloquim – Gnosis
Title: Repository traceability for risk impact analysis
Abstract:
What differentiates a real architecture repository from a “pile of disconnected diagrams”? Traceability, which is the ability to trace the relationships between the elements of architecture – that is, to know how strategic goals, business elements (such as processes and areas of the company), information systems and IT infrastructure are interconnected.
This traceability is what allows Architecture to give concrete and precise answers to Business questions, through impact and risk analysis, which is what gives Architecture business value.
In this presentation we will discuss traceability, how architecture tools enable it, and why “Office + Visio” is not an adequate solution for Architecture documentation.
10:00 – 10:30 – Vanessa Nunes – SE7TI
Title: I was starting! And now? Stop everything?
Abstract:
I already understood that Enterprise Architecture brings gains for my company. I had intention or was already organizing myself to implement the practice of Enterprise Architecture. The need for social isolation and the crisis that started in organizations put a brake on my planning and actions. Do you identify with this scenario?
In this meeting, we discussed which actions and techniques of Enterprise Architecture can be performed during this troubled time so that, in addition to having gains for the organization, we also contribute to the process of establishing the practice of Enterprise Architecture.
10:30 – 11:00 – Luise Santacruz – eVolve
Title: Why run ADM in times of Crisis
Abstract:
In times of crisis, the review of all types of business is necessary for those who want to survive and resume their businesses with full force when possible. However, when we are caught by surprise many activities need to be reviewed: how each employee continues to work, how their customers continue to have access to their products, how their relationship with their suppliers is maintained.
There are techniques on the market that can help us in the challenge of keeping everything running in the most effective and safe way possible, but analyzing the paths, scenarios and possibilities is an intrinsic job of Enterprise Architecture. So we will in this lecture we showed how running ADM is fundamental and how to do it quickly in times of crisis!
11:00 – 11:30 – Antonio Plais – Centus
Title: Enterprise Architecture for all times (or, how to get out of the crisis stronger than entered)
Abstract:
The role of Corporate Architecture in the evolution of organizations has long been discussed. Does architecture help to cope with crises? Does architecture play a role during a crisis? What is the role of architecture after a crisis has passed and the organization needs to return to normal? After all, is corporate architecture a discipline to be applied only when the organization is “in the mood”?
These, and other issues, were addressed in this lecture, which sought to show how Enterprise Architecture can be a powerful tool for organizations to deal with changes in their business environment, whether caused by competition, cultural, and technological changes, or by an unexpected pandemic that left the whole world paralyzed and upside down!
