The number of certifications in the TOGAF® 9 Certification Program as of May 2020 is growing rapidly and about to surpass 100,000 – currently standing at 98,900. This includes certified individuals from 149 countries, with the most certifications awarded in the UK, USA, India, Netherlands, and Australia.
The TOGAF Standard, a standard of The Open Group, is a proven Enterprise Architecture (EA) methodology and framework, used by the world’s leading organizations to improve business efficiency. Representing a Body of Knowledge from world-leading practitioners, the latest TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2 is universally known as industry best practice.
Always two steps ahead, the TOGAF framework is constantly adapting to address new business and technology trends, ensuring cross-boundary integration across whole organizations.
The TOGAF Framework is Timeless
As it continues to evolve, the TOGAF Standard remains flexible to suit the ever-changing needs of modern-day enterprises. For instance, as more organizations move towards agile methodologies, it can be applied to accommodate for this shift. Meanwhile, it can also be used within organizations not following agile principles.
Demonstrating the highest level of competency, it supports numerous features including product management and problem solving, while also being scalable and easy to use for organizations of any size and structure.
With the majority of employers now including the TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2, as their recommended certification in job adverts, it has cemented its timeless status as a trusted, vendor-neutral and globally recognized program.
A ‘Digital First’ Future
During The Open Group ‘Digital First’ virtual event in April, we discussed a range of subjects focused around a central theme of ‘digital first’ – a topic that has never been more pertinent as technology and business leaders are faced with the challenge to rapidly become digital enterprises. Here it was highlighted that within this complex environment Enterprise Architects will be crucial for guiding the transition to digital within their organizations.
To fulfill new demands of the agile digital enterprise and remain relevant, the Enterprise Architect role is evolving rapidly, and shifting towards a service delivery model. To help Enterprise Architects navigate this process, the TOGAF framework provides ongoing learning, access to a variety of tools, as well as constantly updated ecosystem of knowledge. More than ever before, then, Enterprise Architects are recognizing the importance of certifications for building trusted relationships with business leaders and, in turn, progressing their careers.
In addition to the TOGAF Standard keeping its finger on the pulse of and constantly meeting needs of organizations and individuals, it can be used in tandem with other standards of The Open Group to support the digital transformation journey. These include the ArchiMate® Specification, The Open Group Architecture Agile Framework™ Snapshot, Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge™, and the IT4IT™ Standard.
