Wednesday, October 31, the third day of The Open Group Singapore event, started with both a TOGAF® User Group Meeting and a morning track session on Security for the Internet of Things (IoT).
Over 60 people, mostly local, attended the TOGAF User Group session that started with a welcome from Steve Nunn, President and CEO of The Open Group, followed by a presentation by Sonia Gonzalez, The Open Group, on the updates made in the TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2 and ArchiMate® 3.0.1 modeling language. After the break, delegates introduced themselves and gave input on what they would like to see from future versions of the TOGAF standard. The morning concluded with a panel Q&A session featuring experts from IBM and The Open Group. This was followed by lunchtime presentations from our Premium Sponsors – BiZZdesign and Orbus Software.
The TOGAF day continued in the afternoon with Aaron Tan Dani, Chairman of the Enterprise Architecture SIG, Singapore Computer Society, who ran the TOGAF Essentials 2018 course. Delegates who are TOGAF 9 Certified were also given the opportunity to demonstrate their up-to-date knowledge by earning an Open Badge credential through completion of an online assessment after the event.
In the Security for the Internet of Things track there were presentations on:
- O-PAS™ an Opportunity to Advance Cybersecurity for Industrial Systems
- Cybersecurity and Risk Management
- IoT Security for Smart Cities: Case Studies
This was followed in the afternoon by a workshop on Transforming Business Processes with Artificial Intelligence hosted by Andras Szakal, VP and CTO, IBM and Michael Flores, Architect, Strategy and Technology, IBM. They demonstrated how AI will be used to automate such tasks as validation of professional certification, the maturity of an architectural proposal, as well as help guide Enterprise Architects in their decision-making process.
Thank you to all of our speakers, attendees, sponsors, and staff (whether on-site or behind-the-scenes) for making The Open Group Singapore 2018 event so successful!
Sponsors were: BiZZdesign, Orbus Software, Association of Enterprise Architects (AEA), ATD Solution, Mega International, SNA Technologies and Van Haren Publishing
